Tuvalu, one of the world’s smallest countries, has the world’s smallest population after that of the Vatican. Because of that, it has a very low GDP. When Tuvalu wanted to join the United Nations, it discovered it would cost 100,000$, which it didn’t really have. Tuvalu then decided to offer for sale its attractive top-level domain – .tv – to commercial companies and individuals, assuming it would be a popular domain name with the television business. Tuvalu was right – a Canadian businessman bought it for 50,000,000$ and started a company named DotTV.
Luck is one thing – but knowing how to use it creatively is another!
